What is the BioMed Plan?
The BioMed Plan is a supplemental benefits plan where eligible employees receive benefits and see an increase in their net take-home pay thanks to a provision in the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
What benefits are included in the BioMed Plan?
The benefits included in the BioMed Plan include:
- Extraordinary, concierge-style, virtual healthcare services through Amaze Health
- Accident coverage plan, which provides payment, independent of any other insurance, in case you have an accident
- $0 copay for all virtual care and some prescription drugs
How is it possible to receive these benefits and see a bigger paycheck?
Because this plan is designed to help you get and stay well, your company deducts the plan premium from your paycheck before taxes. That means less tax is taken out of each paycheck. When you participate in the program, you then receive a monthly post‑tax claim payment. You’ll see the difference in your paycheck each pay period.
What services are offered by Amaze Health?
Amaze is your healthcare partner – your first call in most situations. Amaze offers:
- Virtual urgent and primary care
- Mental health support
- Chronic condition management, prescription management
- Insurance, referral and billing support
How do I enroll in the BioMed Plan?
If you are eligible for BioMed Plan, then you are automatically enrolled. You only need to take action if, for some reason, you want to opt out. You can opt out by phone by calling (866) 826-2934 or you can email [email protected] during your open enrollment.
How will I know that I'm enrolled?
After the open enrollment period, you will see some additional line items on your paycheck. Even though you will see deductions for the plan, your new take home pay will most likely be higher but will not decrease even though you will be enjoying the benefits of the BioMed Plan.
Once enrolled, am I always enrolled?
Your eligibility depends on your income, hours worked, and tax deductions, and it’s determined every payroll cycle. If your hours or income drop, there might be weeks when you’re not eligible for the some benefits. During those times, your paycheck will stay the same, and you’ll still have access to Amaze Health. Once your hours and income go back up, you’ll automatically be re-enrolled and receive all the program benefits, including the paycheck boost.
How do I start using my benefits?
All you need to do to get started is to download the Amaze Health app from your Apple or Android app store and set up your Amaze account. You will receive an email with your username and password and the simple set-up instructions. There is also account set-up information in the BioMed Plan ebook.
